A Black Schist of a Buddha:
Gandhara 3rd/4th century, finely carved with a gentle bow shaped mouth, with a straight nose and heavy lidded elongated eyes centred with a raised urna, the hair in wavy locks over the prominent ushnisha. Supported on a metal stand. H approx. 44.5 cm x W approx. 26 cm. Provenance: Formerly in the collection of Badi Uzzaman (1939-2011), the Pakistani-British television and film actor, thence by descent.
