A PAIR OF LATE LOUIS XV ORMOLU-MOUNTED JAPANESE LACQUER ENCOIGNURES BY BERNARD III VAN RISENBURGH, CIRCA 1763-1770, THE LACQUER LATE 17TH CENTURY Each encoignure with a breakfront Portor marble top above a frieze with tied berried laurel branches, above a door panelled with a Japanese black and gold lacquer heightened with vernis Martin decoration, one with a sage and his horse in a landscape, the other with summer pavilions in a rocky mountain landscape, framed by matted channelled borders, with foliate angle and berried finials, the interior of the door veneered with tulipwood crossbanded and outlined in purpleheart, the angles mounted with bold scrolled volutes, the base mounted with gadrooned border and lozenges, centred by a foliate clasp, on scrolling acanthus feet; each stamped 'B.V.R.B.' and 'JME' twice 37 ? in. (95.5 cm.) high; 31 in. (79 cm.) wide; 22 in. (56 cm.) deep
