Description: Pair of plates emblazoned in porcelain from East India Company, Famille Rose,Qing Dynasty, Qianlog Era, m. 1760-65 with the arms of a possible ancestor of Alejandro María Aguado de las Marismas. In the center, the coat of armor with the motto Nigra sum sed (I am black but). The wavy rim is decorated with floral garlands. The most well-known representative of the Aguado de las Marismas family is Alejandro Aguado (Sevilla 1785-Gijon 1842) who was a field master of the Duke of Dalmatia and a banker in the Spanish court. In 1829 he received the title of Marquis of Las Marimas del Guadalquivir, of King Fernando VII. This service could have been ordered by a relative of Alejandro, maybe a maternal uncle.
