both looking to sinister, the first with hair en queue wearing a fantail cockade, painted in shades of grey, the reverse with the sitters name in ink, the second wearing a coat with the Order of the Garter, the rear marked '...taken from life Sept. 1824, by W. Three versions of the portrait of the Duke of Sussex are recorded in the Jackson and McKechnie dictionarie, all of which are dated 1825 suggesting that the portrait of the Duke of Sussex in this lot may the original from which these are derived.
