A good pair of Japanese Satsuma pottery vases/candelabra, Meiji Period, of baluster form, painted and richly gilt with panels of sages and other figures within simulated bamboo divisions, with French late 19th century ormolu mounts to the rims and bases, stamped for F.Barbedienne and pierced and cast in the oriental manner, the candelabra of swept leafy form with flowerhead decoration to the branches, height 52cm, width 22cm, vase height 41.5cm. Condition report: Slight gilt rubbing, especially to bamboo divisions. One sconce detached, but present, two lacking.
