Description: white Jade with Buddha decoration China, 19th century, Qing Dynasty Size: 5 cm & 6,3 cm Two flat jade pendants with depictions of Buddha seated, framed by an aureole. The left pendant shows Buddha seated in flowing garments wearing a crown. One raised hand is forming a mudra while the other arm is lowered to his other side. Two disciples are seated beneath him to his sides. The bottom is decorated with a lotus flower. The whole pendant has a bud shape and the aureole is characterized by a single line relief. The carving is rather rudimentary and edgy. The right pendant is carved in openwork, the frame designed by a firy aureole. Buddha is seated on a lotus bud wearing a three-pointed crown and his hands form the anjali mudra. The carving is more detailed here, but still executed in an edgy style.
