Description: stone , North-India, 12th century, Pala Periode Size: 45 cm Buddha sitting on a double lotus base with a Sanskrit inscription on the base . The lotus base is decorated with a beaded rim on top. Sitting in lotus position, one hand in his lap with the other touching the earth, bhumispharsa mudra, with index finger missing. The robe is draped over the left shoulder, the navel is visible. The end of the rob is fanning out underneath him in wavy pattern. The nose is partly missing. The eyes are downcast and the eyebrows high and slender, the lips are fleshy and forming a smile. The third eye sits between the eyebrows as a round dot. Ushnisha and hair are formed by small coils, the elonged earlobes are extending to the side of the oval face.
