A late 1960s 18 carat two colour gold rhodochrosite crystal pendant by Gilian Packard, the pear shaped rhodochrosite panel within a two colour gold polished and textured bar and nugget style setting, 6.5cm long, suspended from a similar textured and polished gold bar panel necklace with gold nugget style spacers between, 65.7cm long, hallmarked London 1967 with makers mark GEP, 134.8g gross Gilian Packard, 1938-1997. Named Gilian with one ‘l’ because, as she said ‘my father couldn’t spell’. She established herself as one of the leading modern jewellers of the 1960s. She won many important jewellery awards, and was the first woman to become a Freeman of the Goldsmiths Company. Most of her work was commissioned by private collectors (such as this lot), as she liked to design for the individual. Other works she produced were retailed by highly regarded jewellers, such as Richard Ogden and Cameo Corner.
