Omega, Constellation, ref. ST 168.004, a stainless steel wrist watch, circa 1965, automatic movement, 24 jewels, cal. 561, adjusted to 5 positions and temperature, silvered 'Pie Pan' dial, applied baton markers, Dauphine hands, centre seconds hand, date aperture at 3 o'clock, screw down case back, on an unsigned brown leather strap with an Omega stainless steel pin buckle, case back, dial, movement, crown and buckle signed, diameter 36mm The Omega Constellation range was first released in 1952. This was after the success of the limited release Centenary watch in 1948 to celebrate 100 years of Omega. The Constellation became Omega's flagship model and was available in steel, gold and rare examples of platinum. A number of dial variants were available and the most popular being the twelve side 'pie pan' dial. The reverse of the case is engraved with iconic observatory and eight stars. This example also comes with a 'hidden' crown.
