Description: Fluted Japanese Imari ware porcelain bowl dating from the early to mid19th century with a small wood footed "oriental" stand. The bowl is decorated with blue underglaze, red and gold fan-shaped reserves with floral scenes against a red floral background and dark blue bands with red and gold chrysanthemums inside and out with an underglaze blue "sho chiku bai" or pine, plum, and bamboo central medallion. Around the small foot is a wide half floral blue underglaze border. Dimensions: the bowl itself is 11" in diameter and 5 3/4" in depth. The stand is 6 1/4" tall and roughly 10 1/2" in diameter.
