Antique early baradelle or penner made entirely of horn, with a quill nib. Three sections, including reservoir, main shaft and cap. Rests upright on reservoir. Both ends threaded. Family provenance includes note referencing the first conversation about the pen in 1869. The owner suggested back then that he believed the pen to be 250 years old -- which we believe to be inaccurate by at least a century. (Similar examples are dated more reliably to the 1700s.) Another family note was sent to (and returned from) the Waterman Co. in 1910, offering it for sale. Measures 5-1/8" long. No cracks or damage.
