Chinese scroll painting of a woman. Signed. Affixed label states "Subject: Goddess of Longevity. Painted by Ching-chih Yee." Ching-chih Yee is an alternative spelling for artist Yu Jingzhi. Circa early 20th century. According to a description by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York "Yu Jingzhi is one of the best-known female artists to practice traditional Chinese painting in the first half of the twentieth century. Born in Hangzhou, she became familiar with the highly descriptive local tradition of academic painting based on the court art of the Southern Song dynasty (1127a€“1279). She moved to New York in 1936, and held several one-person shows in New York, Boston, and Chicago through the 1960s." Painting measures 40" x 16 1/4". Overall scroll size is 95" x 21 1/2".
