Circa 1780's, Washington DC area, identified as Black Walnut by Alden Identification Services, to consistent of two arm chairs and six side chairs. Foliate carved top rail and back splat, shaped arms with foliate carved hand holds. Straight front legs, the arm chairs measure 38.75" h. x 27.75" x 22.5". Deaccession from the Jack Benfield Museum Collection. Condition: Several earlier repairs, in need of new upholstery, other wear consistent with age and use.
