19th to 20th century, hexagonal shaped, comprising four layers and a lid, all contained within a carrying-handle decorated with auspicious clouds.
The food box was a tool used in ancient China for the storage of food and small utensils such as pens, ink, reel, seals, combs and mirrors. As a special object, it was typically the common property of a family. One of this condition, size and craftsmanship was likely used by the matriarch of a wealthy home for the presentation of dessert. The status, prestige and wealth of a family can be reflected in the materials and decoration of the box.
食盒是古代盛装食物及小件器具如笔墨、卷轴、印章、梳子和镜子等用的竹木结构器具,内有数层不等。它作为一种特殊的物件,是家族的共同财产,甚是讲究,一个家族的地位、威望及富贵程度都可以通过食盒反映出来。此食盒呈棱形,连盖共四层,底框两侧安站牙及提梁,并以祥云雕刻装饰。这种尺寸大小、做工精细的多层食盒在当时的年代主要是官富人家夫人小姐之物,用于置放甜点。此老花梨木三撞提梁食盒用材考究、做工精细、庄重典雅,整体保存完好,是十分难得的收藏品,当然也极具实用价值。
