A RARE PAIR OF GOLDEN GLOVES
China, Liao dynasty (907 – 1125) or later, but at least several hundred years old. Probably originating from a Liao dynasty tomb, the gloves are completely hand woven of extremely thin gold wire, rendered in one piece from wrist to fingers, the back of the hand with a sinuous dragon, the finial border with lotus scrolls. (2)
Provenance: From an important European private collection. Acquired in Asia between 1960 and 1970. A private owner, acquired from the above.
Condition: Some wear and traces of use, minor dents here and there, losses, flattened due to pressure and associated bending and creasing.

Metallurgic analysis: Gold 757/1000, silver 186/1000 and gold 765/1000, silver 182/1000, the remaining metal is copper with approximately 24-27/1000
