Description:
A LARGE BISCUIT CENSER, QING
China, 18th – 19th century. The openwork biscuit vessel with a fine green, yellow, aubergine and blue glaze and standing on three mythical beast feet, the handles shaped as Chilong, the knob on the domed lid finely modeled as a Buddhist lion. The sides with incised sinuous Chilong in high relief.
Provenance: From a French estate.
Condition: One minuscule foot of one of the Chilong handles lost. Besides that, in superb condition, with hardly any wear and few tiny firing flaws.
