A PAIR OF CIZHOU ‘BOY’ PILLOWS, MING
China, 1368-1644 or even a bit earlier. Thickly covered in a creamy, ivory-toned glaze with intentional crackling, painted in dark brown with humoristic faces, ruyi pendants, armlets and plaits tied together above the ears. The opening at the anus originally served as vapor escape during the firing. (2)
Provenance: From the collection of Alexander Popov in Novi Sad, Kingdom of Serbia, acquired between 1900-1920. A copy of an old black and white photo, dating to early 1930s, with the collector’s cabinet, and the present two boys within, is accompanying this lot.
Condition: Wear and traces of use. Old repairs to legs, one figure with one, the other with two. Some glaze flakes and abrasions.

中國,1368-1644更早。 厚厚的象牙色釉面,釉面開片,深棕色釉繪製男童面部、如意紋飾及髮髻等。屁股処小開口是燒製時用來出氣用。
來源:塞爾維亞 諾維薩Alexander Popov收藏,購於1900-1920年間。隨附一張1930年代黑白照片,上面顯示了這件造像在藏家櫃中的情況。
品相:磨損和使用痕跡;腿部舊時修補,一個人像有一個,另一個有兩處。一些釉面開片和 刻痕。
