Description:
A BLUE AND WHITE JAR, JIAJING MARK AND PERIOD
China, 1522-1566. The high-shouldered body and cover are finely painted in deep cobalt-blue with carps and lotus plants, set between double-line borders and bands of lappets and auspicious symbols. The domed cover with a finial in form of a lotus bud and an everted lip.
Provenance: From an important German private collection, acquired in China between 1930 and 1950. Dorotheum, Vienna, auction on December 5th, 1990, lot 173.
Condition: A single triangular piece of 13 x 10 mm broken off the lip of the jar and professionally put back into place, no spraying. Very short associated hairline, almost invisible from the outside. Some firing flaws and open bubbles. Two minuscule nicks to inner lip of lid.

Note the thick and wavy glaze with its superb, unctuous finish. Six-character mark Da Ming Jiajing nianzhi within a double circle painted to base and of the period.

品相:罐子的唇沿処有一個13 x 10毫米的三角形裂片,已經過專業歸位,未噴塗。非常短的髮絲綫裂縫,從外面看幾乎看不見。 一些燒製瑕疵和開放的氣泡。蓋子的內沿処有兩個微小的刻痕。
