A THANGKA OF AMITBHA
Tibet, 19th- early 20th century. The Buddha of boundless light seated in meditation posture in the Western Paradise. Inscription to the reverse. Gouache and gold on cloth.
Provenance: Dr. W. D. Franz (1915-2005), North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
Condition: Creases, losses of pigments, stains.
Dimensions: 67 x 50 cm (the painting) 130 x 84 cm (the mounting)
The central figure is surrounded by eight taras and four ascetics.
Above, we find Tsongkhapa flanked by two lamas as well as three Buddha figures, the white Tara, Amitayus and Ushnishavijaya near the upper border.
Note the fine Chinese brocade mounting.
阿彌陀佛唐卡
西藏, 十九至二十世紀初。 無量光佛結跏趺坐坐於西方極樂淨土。背面有描述,衣服上有水粉和金彩。
