A NARASIMHA LAKSHMI BRONZE
South India, Tamil Nadu, 18th – 19th century. The lion deity Narasimha is one of the eight avatars of Vishnu, shown here seated in lalitasana with his consort Lakshmi and holding the two most important attributes of Vishnu – the conch and the chakra wheel.
Provenance: From a private collection in Vienna, Austria. Acquired in the local market between 1970 and 1990. Thence by descent.
Condition: Fine condition with minor wear and some small nicks here and there. Good natural patina.
