Exquisite primordial impressionist painting This important and very rare earliest landscape painting opened the field of impressionism.? Its rich colors fully depict the view of a bright sunny day under a changing light, artistically poses dense grasses and bushes in the middle foreground, to the left shallow water with a small? stationary boat, to the right a couple of lovers walking leisurely toward a farm house.? In the middle slightly to the right are dense tall trees sandwiching the simple small farm house that blends in nicely.? This is a traditional tranquil European pastoral scene.? Interestingly, the painter adds the expanse water that changes color from pinkish gray and grayish blue to sapphire blue on the horizon, with far away city sky line spreading under expanse of blue sky, covered by foggy marine layer that extends over the land.? The composition is great and the colors are bright and seem transient. Nevertheless it offers an escape from bustling urban life.? The wood frame is carved and heavily gilt both front and part of the back; however, due to its great age, part of gold paint has fallen off.? With artist signature.? Size: 10.5 in. (26.67 cm.)
