Rare and important blue--white Yuan Vase A rare and important blue--white decorated early Yuan& Dynasty vase, depicting a ferocious dragon; the body is made of a fine clay; the glaze is thick and has pale grayish green color with colorless crackle and without the surface glassy shine due to aging; the foot is well cut with inner wall sloping outward ; the unglazed base burned pale red; all these characteristics are typical for high class Yuan vases of this type; the dragon is robust and crude that appears in some early Yuan porcelain. This vase is an important Yuan porcelain sample that has survived seven centuries. Provenance: From Dr. Robert I-San Lin, a senior Chinese artwork appraiser, whose grandfather was a major Chinese antique dealer in early 1900s.
