Hughes, The Wallace Collection Catalogue of Furniture, Vol.III, London 1996, cat. F279-280). The model is attributed to the bronzier Philippe Caffieri (1714-1774), who re-used models for the two allegorical children created by his father Jacques (1678-1755) two decades earlier and used on rococo scrollwork bases, here updated to the neoclassical taste with a rosette and entrelac frieze on paw feet.
