OTHER NOTES
Even a casual review of Colleen McCullough's written correspondence will very quickly reveal that she approached the act of letter writing with the same vigour she applied to that of crafting a novel: with humour, extensive background research and an indefatigable belief in her convictions. The cause of her discontent was that the people of Norfolk Island were being denied the full benefit - both financially and politically - of their status as citizens of an external territory of Australia. These letters, written between 1999 and 2010, include recipients such as Mr Kofi Annan, former Secretary-General to the United Nations; former President of the United States of America, Mr Bill Clinton; the Right Honourable Mary Robinson, the former United Nations Commissioner for Human Rights; and the Australian Senate, demonstrating that she had no hesitation in arguing for her beliefs in the highest echelons of politics.
