A PAIR OF BELL-SHAPED CHAM REPOUSSé GOLD EAR ORNAMENTS
Champa, classical period, 10th – 12th century. The pair of gold ear ornaments executed in repoussé, each earring a hollow ball in the shape of a bell, showing a guardian lion face on the bottom side and a floral design with two inlaid gemstones (garnet) at the top.
Provenance: From an important European private collection. Acquired in Asia between 1960 and 1970. A private owner, acquired from the above.
Condition: Overall in very good condition with minor traces of wear and age as well as extensive patina and soil encrustation.
