A CHAM REPOUSSé GOLD BRACELET WITH A GEMSTONE FLOWER AND GUARDIAN LIONS
Champa, classical period, 10th – 12th century. The exterior of this bangle-type bracelet is executed in repoussé with fine decorations all over. Both sides of the upper part of the bracelet are graced by a floral composition of inlaid gemstones (almandine, zircon), flanked on both sides by standing guardian lions with raised paws. Additional gemstones (amethyst and zircon) are inlaid below the lions’ feet as well as along the rim of the bracelet.
Provenance: From an important European private collection. Acquired in Asia between 1960 and 1970. A private owner, acquired from the above.
Condition: Very good condition with traces of wear and age as well as fine patina and soil encrustation.
