Very rare edition with Dutch text (no copies in NCC, only 1 copy in WorldCat) edited by the Dutch Egyptologist Conrad Leemans (1809-1893). In 1882 an edition with French text was published simultaneously by E.J. Brill (only 1 copy in NCC). The finely executed plates (printed on handmade paper) were lithographed by the Dutch print-maker Timen Hooiberg (1809-1897) faithfully reproducing an ancient Egyptian papyrus (dep. hieroglyphs & scenes of the Book of the Dead) present in the collection of the National Museum of Antiquities in Leiden. – Lacks text-pp. 5-8 (replaced by 20th-cent. photostats), a few plates sl. frayed in outer blank margins, but else in good condition.
