LOT NOTES Pavel Aleksandrovich Shillingovskiy was a well-known Russian Neo-Classic graphic artist and painter. He studied etching, xylography, lithography, and engraving, ultimately deciding the latter was his medium of choice. His work is inspired by the Old Masters in terms of composition and subject matter. Throughout his life, Shillingovskiy worked as a book artist, taught aspiring graphic artists, and founded the Polygraphic Department at the Leningrad VKhUTEMAS.
