ANTIQUE INDO-PERSIAN POLYCHROME SPEAR TIP: Double sided blade caught in the jaws of an animal; remnants of polychrome in mouth of animal and some inside of shaft. 31.75cm (12 1/2"l). Per the consignor, provenance states that this and the other Indian weapons offered in this auction were purchased through a representative from Atlanta Cutlery, Ga. who worked for and bought them from Val Forgett, founder of Navy Arms Company, Inc. (1956-present). Forgett created over 100 different replica firearms models in his lifetime. Forgett was President of the National Firearms Museum, Chairman of the United States International Muzzle Loading Team, leading the U.S. to five consecutive World Championships, a feat unmatched to this day. An avid big-game hunter, Forgett was recognized by Safari Club International (SCI) as the first person in over 100 years to take all "Big Five" game species of Africa (lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros, and Cape buffalo) with a muzzle-loading rifle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Val_Forgett). These weapons are reported to come from the, "Maharaja of Patiala", late Mogul period.
