A pair of Clifford Mccormick Ulp (1885-1957, America) figurative drawings, each c. 1950s and on grey laid Michallet, France paper, with watermarks. Both depicting women in Medieval styled garb and one titled, "Theodora". Each signed in the margin and measuring: 25"h x 19"w. Clifford McCormic Ulp was an American artist, muralist, teacher, author and arts advocate. He attended Rochester's East High School and graduated from the Mechanics Institute in 1908 continuing his studies with a scholarship to the Art Students League. He was a pupil of Charles Woodbury, Emile Gruppe and William Merritt Chase. Ulp illustrated for the Saturday Evening Post and Country Gentleman magazines and in 1913 began to teach drawing and design at the Rochester Institute of Technology (which continued for thirty-nine years). In 1920 he was appointed as the Director of the Art and Design department until his retirement in 1952. In addition to his numerous regional landscape paintings, he also authored a book in 1939 “Art and Artists in Rochester”, created muralist work, introduced the use of Motion Pictures to RIT n a course titled Models in Motion, participated in numerous exhibits and was a positive driving artistic influence throughout Rochester, New York.
