It allows drivers to measure elapsed time and read average speeds on its iconic tachymetric bezel. The name Daytona is named after the famous racing site Dayton, Florida, renowned for its speed and racing enthusiasts since the early 19th century. In 2001, Rolex started a new line of luxurious Daytona watches for elite collectors. They were set with all sort of precious gemstones and cases were made with either gold or platinum.Rolex released the model Cosmograph Daytona Rainbow in 2012 in both white gold and yellow gold. The perfectly placed gradual gradient rainbow features 36 baguette-cut sapphires precisely placed around the bezel, and 56 round-cut white diamonds covering its lugs. This glamourous case houses a powerful calibre. It has fewer components compared to other chronographs making it more reliable and offers additional space for a mainspring to increase the power reserve from 50 hours to 72 hours.The aesthetic appeal of the piece fully matches its rarity. The combination of the vibrant colourful saphhire-set and 40mm yellow gold case creating a bold statement piece.
