The platinum “Classique” Grande Complication reference 5447PT captures the true spirit of the company’s founder, horological genius Abraham-Louis Breguet. Today, Montres Breguet continues his legacy by creating exceptional technological and aesthetic timepieces in A. L. Breguet’s instantly recognisable style. This minute repeating perpetual calendar watch with retrograde months and moon phases is one of the finest of these exquisite modern creations.
The complex manually-wound movement is entirely engraved by hand and drives three highly intriguing and desirable complications - minute repeater, perpetual calendar and the complex retrograde jumping-month mechanism. Of particular note is the optimised repeating mechanism. The harmony between the two gongs has been enhanced using psycho-acoustic tests and analyses that served to fine-tune clarity, sound resolution and auditory compatibility. The positioning of the gong holders has also been modified so as to achieve the most crystal-clear sound achievable within the case, which serves as a resonance chamber.
Very few examples of this highly complicated platinum watch have appeared at auction, the present watch affords collectors the opportunity to acquire one of the classic trophies of Breguet’s modern production.
