Urwerk’s first transformable watch, the UR-T8 was launched in 2017 to mark the 20th anniversary of the brand. The distinctive feature of the model is that the case can be flipped over in the “Reverso” manner. This design allows the look of the watch to change between watch mode and “mystery” mode on the wrist.
The wandering hours configuration for reading the time has become a signature style of the Urwerk brand and an icon of contemporary timepiece design. The present UR-T8 model has the biggest carousel configuration yet produced by the company with rotating hour/minute modules mounted on planetary gears with each arm supporting four hour numerals. The UR-T8 was available in two versions: titanium and PVD or black PVD titanium, and each limited to 30 pieces.
Urwerk was founded in 1997 by Felix Baumgartner and Martin Frei who both shared the will of creating an independent vision of a timepiece and presented their first timepieces (UR-101 and UR-102) at Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants, Baselworld in the same year. Urwerk, as a company, believes in allying creativity and efficiency in order to build watches, while following the highest standards of manufacturing.
