Consigned by an Asian Visionary private collector, the present watch is an outstanding example of a reference 5512 with Pointed Crown Guards (PCG) also referred to as “cornino” by Italian Rolex enthusiasts and the rare and much sought after black gloss dial with 4 lines gilt printing and “underline”. The watch features a perfectly glossy dial, like a mirror and characterized by a small silvered line on the dial placed under the text “Oyster Perpetual”. The meaning of the underline dial has been interpreted to mean that the luminous material used on the dial and in the hands was no longer radium.
