Exceptional horseshoe armchair (pair) - Quianlong era - China, Shanxi Province - southern elm. Two horseshoe-shaped chairs dating back to the period of Emperor Qianlong (1736 - 1795), known to be an art lover. The traditional style of these beautiful armchairs shows the great skill of the cabinet makers of the time. The center of the back is inlaid with a quadrangular medallion in the middle of which two dragons are portrayed. Other decorations are inlaid on the back and on the apron of the chairs.
