Tibetan copper with fire gilding figure of Wrathful Deity (possibly Palden Lhamo) Riding a Mule, Central Tibet, 18th or 19th century, 7.25 x 4.5 x 2.5 inches, weight 1245 grams (mule 685g / rider 560g). Rider with red flaming hair, vajra tipped stick in right hand and skull cup in left, two later turquoise insets, mule stands atop lotus pedestal, with stretched human saddle, mane and eyeballs painted blue, red eyelids and mouth. The rider and mule are separate pieces and it's probable that they were not originally made for each other but married at a later date; metal studs on bottom of rider fit securely, but loosely, in mule.
