This Kangxi period plate features a hunting scene done in gilded iron atop a blue under glaze. It has a stout thin top heavy foot which blends into the base. It’s well features two figures leaving for a hunt, depicted in red an gold and framed with a blue under-glaze. This pot is unique in that the blue was neither completely concealed or an integral part of the plates design, rather the artist used a blue under glaze to accentuate and separate the red glazes. The interior lip is scalloped and features a red in gold design of flowers, which is separated by blue tulip shapes. The exterior walls and underside have been glazed white.
