This famille rose jar with cover was made in the late 18th century and is made of white porcelain. Shaped by hand this pot has slight ripples which can still be seen when the vessel catches light. Both lid and jar have a white under glaze followed by an illustration of birds and branches done in the famille rose style. The illustration covers the entire front of the vessel with the back filled with writing. The jar has a bisque indentation at the bottom, a circular body and a raised interior rim which is used to hold the lid in place. The interior is glaze white. The lid is illustrated on the top while it’s sides are left white. The interior well of the lid has also been glazed white so has the bottom well of the jar, which has a red marking.
