Karl Faberge 20th C. Russian Silver, Gold, Ruby, Nephrite, Serpentine & Natural Stone Polychrome Banker Sculpture *Thought to be a One of a Kind, Gift For Nobility* - This piece was made by workmasters of Faberge after the revolution, between 1918 and 1923. The subject is a banker that is on a car with a dipper used to scoop money on the front, and counting scores under him. There is a safe behind him, and a toad in a cage which represents his greed, a known symbol in Russia. This is an extremely well made Polychrome piece, made almost entirely of rare, natural stone, and judging by the quality of the work you can tell it was made by Faberge's best workmasters. The piece is made of Russian Silver, has Gold and Ruby vest buttons, and the toad, hat, and pants are made of Nephrite. The face and hands are Belorechensk Quartzite, the shirt is Cacholong with a Lapis tie, the vest is Jasper, the socks are White Nephrite, the shoes are Obsidian and the wheels are Black Serpentine. The eyes of the banker and the toad are enamel, and parts of the car are made of petrified wood. The piece sits on a Mahogany Obsidian base. The piece is not marked, but is an inspirational piece inspired by Russian leadership and greed. This is thought to be a one of a kind, gift for Russian Nobility. The piece measures 7.5"H. This is an absolutely stunning, investment piece, and you will never see one like it again.
