Designer Sajen Solid Sterling Silver & Turquoise Heart Pendant W/Garnet Accent on 23" Solid Sterling Silver Chain - The pendant measures 1.25" long. Marked "925 Sajen". (10 grams) Sajen jewelry is designed by Marianna and Richard Jacobs and produced by master jewelers in Bali, Indonesia and Jaipur, India. While Richard Jacobs was a graduate student at Yale School of Art he won a Luce Scholarship to paint and teach in Bali, Indonesia. Marianna spent the year working in a silver factory, creating jewelry and learning the ancient secrets of the Balinese master silversmiths. One of the many aspects of Balinese culture that influenced the Jacobs was the daily tradition of making exquisite "offerings" to create balance and appease the gods. The Balinese word for "Offerings" is "Sajen" which is the trademark of their jewelry.
