Giuseppe Carlo BOTTURA BOTTURA. I profughi di Parga. Giuseppe Carlo Bottura. I profughi di Parga. 1845. Disegno a matita su carta. 255x178 mm. Firma e data a matita sotto l’immagine. Sul margine inferiore, a penna, alcuni versi del poema di Berchet. Ottimo stato di conservazione. Rappresentazione di carattere patriottico che si ispira al celebre quadro di Hayez, rielaborandolo. Prova suggestiva di un giovanissimo Bottura. I profughi di Parga fu scritto nel 1821-23 e si riferisce ad un episodio della guerra greco-turca: la distruzione da parte dei Turchi della città greca di Parga. Nel quadro di Hayez, del 1831, la ricostruzione storica rinvia a fatti e aspirazioni del Risorgimento, perché esalta l'eroismo di un popolo che aveva combattuto per le proprie convinzioni e la propria fede.Il letterato Giuseppe Carlo Bottura, 1824-1886, di Rovereto, si stabilisce a Trieste nel 1855 dove è farmacista per 18 anni. Nel 1879 è nominato segretario del Teatro Comunale di Trieste, incarico che mantiene fino alla morte; contemporaneamente è segretario della Biblioteca Civica di Trieste e segretario della Società d'Arte o d'Industria. Poeta e scrittore, flautista dilettante, scrive libretti d'opera, e la Storia del Teatro Comunale di Trieste, edito nel 1885. Pencil drawing on paper. 255x178 mm. Patriotic representation that is inspired by the famous painting by Hayez, reworking it. Evocative proof of a very young Bottura. The Parga refugees were written in 1821-23 and refer to an episode of the Greek-Turkish war: the destruction by the Turks of the Greek city of Parga. In Hayez's 1831 painting, the historical reconstruction refers to the facts and aspirations of the Risorgimento, because it exalts the heroism of a people who had fought for their convictions and their faith.The scholar Giuseppe Carlo Bottura, 1824-1886, from Rovereto, settled in Trieste in 1855 where he was a pharmacist for 18 years. In 1879 he was appointed secretary of the Municipal Theater of Trieste, a position he held until his death; at the same time he is secretary of the Civic Library of Trieste and secretary of the Society of Art or Industry. Poet and writer, amateur flutist, he wrote opera librettos, and History of the Municipal Theater of Trieste, published in 1885.
