XIX secolo Disegno a matita su carta, incollato agli angoli su foglio di supporto. 210x118 mm. Riquadrato a matita. Firma in basso a destra, sotto l’immagine del bambino. Notevole studio, legato al tema della ‘Madonna con bambino’. Pompeo Marino Molmenti, 1819-1894, dopo gli studi presso l’Accademia di Venezia, intorno al 1843-44 seguì, in qualità di “pittore di viaggio”, il duca Saverio von Blacas in Oriente attraverso Grecia, Siria e Libia, così come fece anche Ippolito Caffi. Dall’esperienza trasse spunto per numerosi acquarelli e disegni a matita acquistati da Eugenia Bonaparte, attualmente dispersi. Completò la sua formazione a Firenze, Roma, Parigi e Monaco di Baviera, assorbendo le influenze delle varie correnti puriste europee. Nel 1850 espose tre dipinti che rimandano a Raffaello Sanzio: Cimabue scopre in Giotto il genio della pittura (perduto), una Sacra Famiglia dalla Madonna della seggiola, una Vergine con il Bambino e una Sant'Orsola per la chiesa omonima di Conegliano, ora conservata presso il deposito del duomo. Dal 1851 al 1867 fu professore di Elementi di figura all'Accademia ed ebbe come allievi Giacomo Favretto, Luigi Nono, Ettore Tito e Guglielmo Ciardi i quali, grazie ai suoi insegnamenti, furono protagonisti della stagione realista. Pompeo Marino Molmenti, 1819-1894, after studying at the Academy of Venice, around 1843-44 followed, as "travel painter", Duke Saverio von Blacas in the East through Greece, Syria and Libya, as well as Ippolito Caffi also did. From the experience he drew inspiration for numerous watercolors and pencil drawings purchased by Eugenia Bonaparte, currently missing. He completed his training in Florence, Rome, Paris and Munich, absorbing the influences of the various European purist currents. In 1850 he exhibited three paintings that refer to Raffaello Sanzio: Cimabue discovers in Giotto the genius of painting (lost), a Holy Family from the Madonna of the chair, a Virgin with the Child and a Saint Ursula for the homonymous church of Conegliano, now preserved at the cathedral depot. From 1851 to 1867 he was professor of figure elements at the Academy and had as his pupils Giacomo Favretto, Luigi Nono, Ettore Tito and Guglielmo Ciardi who, thanks to his teachings, were protagonists of the realist season. As for sacred art, he left numerous works scattered in various churches in the Veneto region.
