Giovanni BORGHESI BORGHESI. Bombardamento notturno di Venezia. Giovanni Borghesi. Bombardamento notturno di Venezia. Firmata.Venezia 1849 Tempera su carta. Tonalità di blu, con punte di rosse e lumeggiature di biacca. Firma in basso a destra, biacca “Borghesi”. 145x203 mm. Foglio ottagonale incollato su cartoncino di supporto con doppia cornice lineare. Ottimo stato di conservazione. Rarissima e importante testimonianza diretta della tragica fase finale dell’insurrezione veneziana del 1848-49. Veduta panoramica a volo d’uccello, che comprende: San Giorgio e la Giudecca in primo piano; il ponte; la costa da cui partono i proiettili austriaci sullo sfondo. Le detonazioni e le esplosioni sono evidenziata in rosso e con la biacca. La tempera è pressoché identica all’opera di Giovanni Borghesi conservata presso il Museo Correr di Venezia, intitolata “Bombardamento di Venezia seguito dal 29 luglio al 22 agosto 1849”. Tempera on paper. Shades of blue, with peaks of red and white highlights. Signature in the lower right corner, "Borghesi" white lead. 145x203 mm. Octagonal sheet glued on support card with double linear frame. Excellent condition. Very rare and important direct testimony of the tragic final phase of the Venetian uprising of 1848-49. Bird's eye view, which includes: San Giorgio and Giudecca in the foreground; the bridge; the coast from which the Austrian bullets start in the background. The detonations and explosions are highlighted in red and with white lead. Our tempera is the preparatory drawing for Giovanni Borghesi's work conserved at the Correr Museum in Venice, entitled "Bombardment of Venice followed from 29 July to 22 August 1849".
