Harmenszoon van Rijn REMBRANDT REMBRANDT. Abraham France, speziale. Harmenszoon van Rijn REMBRANDT. 1606 - 1669 Abraham France, speziale. Acquaforte, puntasecca e bulino; Mis. mm 157 x 208. Piccolo margine. Stato: X. Ottimo stato di conservazione. Il modello era uno speziale e un collezionista di stampe, intimo amico di Rembrandt. Per realizzare la stampa Rembrandt in primo luogo preparò una base incisa all’acquaforte e poi lavorò al bulino, infine perfezionò alcuni particolari con la puntasecca. Apportò diverse modifiche nei successivi stati, modificando l’effetto della luce ed elaborando uno scorcio di paesaggio che si intravvede dalla finestra. De Bussiere: “Nel suo studio di lavoro in cui l’atmosfera calma è propizia al raccoglimento, Francen, con l’espressione viva ma serena, è presentato come uno dei modelli più felici che abbiano posato per Rembrandt; amante dell’arte, si dedica con gioia alla sua occupazione favorita, con lo spirito esente dall’intensa e malinconica introspezione che ossessiona molti ritratti dell’artista”. Pierre Fran?ois Basan, 1723-97, acquistò un certo numero di lastre originali di Rembrandt che erano appartenute al grande collezionista Claude Henri Vatelet, e pubblicò a Parigi un “Recueil” di stampe nella seconda metà del XVIII secolo.
