Liu Chuncao was born in Guangzhou, China before immigrating to Malaysia for around 50 years. He was the only disciple of the grandmaster of Lingnan school of painting – Chen Shuren. He was widely recognised as one of the second generation Lingnan masters together with Yang Shanshen, Zhao Shao’ang and others.
Liu had proactively promoted the Lingnan art style overseas throughout his lifetime, and held numerous exhibitions around the world, including Southeast Asia, Europe, America and more. His artworks are part of the collections of several cultural institutions in China, the United States, France and so on. Liu was enthusiastic and dedicated to charitable causes, and had positively influenced the Malaysian Chinese community.
刘春草先生生于中国广州,而后移居马来西亚将近50年。他是岭南画派宗师陈树人唯一的入室弟子,与杨善深、赵少昂等人以岭南派第二代传人的称号齐名。
刘先生积极地在海外发扬岭南派画风,曾在世界各地如东南亚、欧美、澳洲等地举办过画展。他的艺术品亦被北京人民大会,以及美国、英国、法国等国家的文化机构所珍藏。刘先生热心公益且对马来西亚华界影响颇深,曾任大马炎黄文化研究会会长。
