Immediately he met Ni Nyoman Pollok, a dancer who became his favorite model and then his wife. The beauty of the places and the gaiety of the population enthused the artist who then decided to reside there for the rest of his life, dedicating his entire work to describe that culture still unspoilt at the time. His residence of Sanur, at the behest of the Indonesian government, became a museum at his death.
