Description A RARE THIRD QUARTER 19TH CENTURY FRENCH MUSICAL AUTOMATON SINGING BIRD CLOCK BY BLAIZE BONTEMS, PARIS the automaton figure of a musician playing the violin beneath a tree filled with birds, the birds singing and some hopping from branch to branch when playing,?also with a glass revolving waterfall, the white enamelled dial with Roman numerals, the twin barrel movement with recoil anchor escapement, Brocot suspension and countwheel striking on a bell, the backplate stamped 'Japy Freres', with a separate musical movement fitted to the giltwood and composition base, activated with three switches to the side of the base, the reverse to tree stamped 'B O/ N/ T', with winder, 75cm high x 60cm wide x 30.5cm deep The automaton and musical movement are functioning but not fully tested or guaranteed..
