Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A fine example of a mold-formed faience ushabti standing in mummiform atop an integral rectangular plinth. The figure holds a pick and hoe in arms crossed over the chest, and traces of an incised seed bag are visible behind the left shoulder. The serene countenance is framed with the long lappets of a tripartite wig and presents with heavy-lidded eyes, a bulbous nose, and full lips above a false beard. Lustrous glaze of a light blue hue covers the entire figure, and a column of black-painted hieroglyphs descends the legs and lower body. Size: 1.375" W x 3.9" H (3.5 cm x 9.9 cm); 4.55" H (11.6 cm) on included custom stand.
