Northern Europe, Viking or Norse culture, ca. 800 to 1100 CE. A gorgeous forged-iron sword with a short tang and a diamond-shaped hand guard. The lengthy blade has a straight profile with a thick spine and a single sharpened edge along one side. Areas of the blade and tang feature original traces of the wooden handle guard and sheath that feel surprisingly smooth and have taken on an attractive orange hue.
