Central Asia, Indian, British Colonial era, ca. 19th century CE. A lovely brass helmet composed of multiple attached panels with a pair of drooping brims. The domed helmet is surmounted with a columnar crest with flowing foliate motifs in repousse, and a chin strap with multiple hoop-form links hangs from the wooden plugs and one floral side roundel. Additional foliate applique panels outline the tops of the brims as well as the verso. An ornate repousse emblem on the front reads "Kings Dragoon Guards" surrounded by a buckled belt, radiating bands of stippling as well as columns of broad leaves, and all is surmounted by the British royal crown.
